Hardware Questions
Stu 7/9 and 12 all have 3 color options: black-white-and red
Stu has no Replaceable batteries as they’re built-in and can handle recharging and hold on to a charge for up to 6 months at a time (with a 3 min update interval)
You will find the battery level of each display on the web management portal, or through the API protocol.
Stu uses 2.4 GHz WLAN/Wi-Fi Technology (802.11 b/g/n)
- The e-ink screens are referred to as “reflective displays.” No backlight is used; rather, ambient light from the environment is reflected from the surface of the display back to your eyes.
- Eliminating the need for a backlight significantly increases the battery life versus using a traditional LCD.
- However, you can install a battery powered LED light on the ceiling with a motion sensor and point on the actual display
- Due to the nature of e-ink technology (a low refresh rate), e-ink screens are generally unsuitable for displaying animation or video.
- In addition, there are other factors like connectivity type, RSSI, display size and data size that may add an additional delay to the final refreshing rate of your device. This is why we do not recommend it.
The default update period is 3 minutes. You can access the portal to update the period at any interval of your choosing. The faster the update the shorter the battery life (currently 1 charge every 6 months with the default 3 min interval)
